Study Aim
To examine clinical and structural features of healthy periodontal tissues in young and old beagle dogs.
Methods
10 dogs:
group 1: 1 year old, group 2: 8-9 years old
day 0 - S/RP, 6 weeks of good plaque control
day 42 - exam, biopsies, analysis
Results
- JE of youngs were constantly at CEJ, in old appical to CEJ
- cementum layer at the level of CEJ in older was 5-10 times wider
- in CT in free ging. and PDL of younger were larger portion of fibroblasts than in old
- collagen content was larger in older, therefore collagen/fibroblast ratio was higher in old
