Lopez, R.F. Carranza, Jr., and R. Cabrini. Histometric Study of Age Changes in Interradicular Bone of Wistar rats. J. Perio Res., 2: 40; 1967.

<--abstract-->

Age variations in a rat model(intraradicular) so a model might be acquired for future studies in pathology. The jaws of the rat were harvested between 30 and 720 days and sectioned for analysis. Four methods of analysis were tried with comparable accuracy.

The results of this study show that with increasing age up to one year that bone density increases and platues then declines. the intraradicular space shows a decrease in bone density and increase in fatty tissues and epithelial tissues due to its continued eruption.
