Periodontal disease activity: a development strategy for its investigation by means of accurate 3-dimensional clinical measurement
Unidimensional probing measurement is inadequate to study progression of periodontal disease at individual sites. The authors therefore introduce instruments for accurate clinical measurement of periodontitis in three dimensions. This allows accurate assessment of the attachment level around the entire tooth surface and has the possibility of future development of a valid system for assessing the nature of disease activity.
