The purpose of the paper was to obtain biopsy specimens of areas in which laterally positioned flaps have been utilized to exposed root surfaces. Samples are the same as the last study.
The findings revealed that the flap reattaches to the tooth surface. There was almost no sulcus depth and the epithelial attachment was longer than normal. New cementoid was seen as early as five weeks. The thickness of new cementum increased through out the study. It formed on the old cementum as well as onmdentin. The heaviest deposits were invariably noted in areas where the tooth surface was notched.
