The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of 3 periodontal dressings on wound healing, patient discomfort and the possible relationship between symptoms experienced by the patient and clinical variables.
Materials and Methods
- Dressings used : Coe-Pak, Peripac and Ward's Wondrpak.
- 41 PTS and 65 GV
- Patients were supplied with Paralgin forte and asked to keep track of how much was taken.
- Parameters: Subjective symptom sand clinical evaluation of swelling and stability of dressing. Wound healing at 7,14,21 days sensitivity at 7,14 ,21 days and presence of plaque.
Results
- More pain with longer surgeries.
- Peripac showed a higher incidence of pain, swelling and higher number of loose dressings. No difference in wound healing or bleeding.
- Plaque accumulation was higher at 14 than 21 days
- Teeth where Coe-Pak was used were more sensitive (>%) than for Peripac.
