Roper, R., Knerr, E., Gocka, G., Stahl, S. Periodontal Disease in Aged Individuals. J Perio 43: 304, 1972
Study Aim
To determine the frequency distribution of teeth in aged
To evaluate the relationship between irritation and response to irritation
i.e. relationship between age , PD, debris, calculus, gingival inflammation, recession
Results
- most remaining teeth were cuspids and mandibular incisors
- with increase of local irritation, there was an increase of local inflammation but there was no association between recession and debris accumulation.
Conclusion
Because there was no significant increase in inflammatory periodontal disease with increase in age,
there is no correlation PD/age.
surviving teeth represents resistent sites.
