Available Forms
- Oral suspension (powder): 25mg/5ml
- Syrup: 50mg/ml
- Tablets: 50,100 mg
- Capsules: 50,100 mg
- Powder for injection (IV): 100,200 mg
Dosage and Route
Adult:(150-pound patient with normal renal and hepatic function)
- PO 100 mg bid on first day then 100mg/day
- IV 200 mg in divided doses then 100-200mg/day
Child (under 8):
- PO or IV 4.4mg/kg/day in divided doses (bid) on first day then 2.2-4.4 mg/kg/day

Adverse Reactions & Side Effects
Tooth discoloration, tongue discoloration, lichenoid drug reaction, candidiasis, xerostomia, hepatoxicity, depression of plasma thrombin activity, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, angioedema, exfoliative dermititis
- Interaction with birth control pills.
