Used patients verbal rating of pain as well as number and type of analgesics used. Mucogingival surgery resulted in more pain than osseous surgery. Approximately half of the patients reported minimal or no postoperative pain, 4.6% reported severe pain, 31.9% of patients took no postoperative analgesics, 48% took 1 to 4 doses of analgesics, 20% took five or more doses.
