| This photo depicts the palate of another patient with MMP. Note the extensive areas of ulceration and erythema throughout the palatal mucosa. The erythema is a fairly constant clinical finding in patients with MMP and it generally persists for several weeks, even after the ulcers have healed. Again note the fibrinous exudate and a small blister on the left soft palate. MMP is a chronic, nonfatal disease. | |
| This photo is from a 67-year-old man with a three years history of intraoral vesicle formation. Upon rupture the vesicles left areas of ulceration. The patient wore a partial upper denture and the ulcers were quite prominent on the palate, as seen here. Rubbing of dentures on the oral mucosas will rapidly produce ulcers in patients with MMP. Also note the typical erythema. |
