Educational and Professional Background
Dr. Nishimura received his B.S. in Microbiology and D.D.S from UCLA. He then completed three post-graduate programs at the UCLA School of Dentistry receiving certificates in Hospital Dentistry, in the specialty of Prosthodontics, and in the subspecialty of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Dr. Nishimura then became a full-time faculty member at the UCLA School of Dentistry. His past positions at the School include the Executive Vice-Chairman of the Division of Advanced Prosthodontics, Biomaterials and Hospital Dentistry, Director of the Maxillofacial Prosthetic and Implant Laboratory, Co-Director of the Maxillofacial Prosthetic Program and Director of the Bone-Implant Interface Laboratory.

Research/Creative Activities
Clinical and laboratory studies in Prosthodontics, Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Osseointegrated Implants. Craniofacial and intra-oral applications of osseointegrated implants - prosthetic and surgical aspects including bone-implant interface, design, components, procedures and outcomes of treatment.

Patient Care Activities
Private practice limited to Prosthodontics, Implant and Esthetic Dentistry within the Faculty Group Dental Practice.
